Da mihi basia mille (or oscilloscopes)
From RetroThing
I’ll bet you thought that there was nothing at all funny about oscilloscopes. Found in the February 1961 issue of “Joker – The Satire Magazine!”.
He’s right: I thought there was nothing at all funny about oscilloscopes… or Latin derivative jokes.
Now it’s only funny in the ironic “There’s no way this would be printed because too few Americans have a large enough vocabulary to get the joke” way. That’s not to say that in 1961 that many people knew what “osculate” meant. I do but I’m a Latin nerd. Now I would say that almost as few Americans know what an oscilloscope is. Some humor is not timeless.
